Such a bold, rich colour may feel brave, but it can be easily achieved with soft furnishings and make a striking statement to any room.
Team it with a light pink, a blousy floral, or a pop of mustard – opposite on the colour wheel it really brings out the deep tones. Dark wood, black furnishings (see below!) or metal accents really help to add drama.
Practical when you need it, artistic when you’re just looking at it. Black and dark furniture are a brilliant way to take a neutral room and inject some style easily.
What started as an accessories trend in 2018 is slowly but surely taking over, and is a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone when you want to be stylish whilst not filling your home with knickknacks.
Adding fresh flowers, a cosy rug or a softer palette of tableware helps keep the drama without looking to stark.
It’s time to cosy up! Bring those layers in so you’ve always got something to snuggle into. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and patterns, honing farmhouse chic or creating a sumptuous space.
It’s also a great way to give your room the appearance of being decorated without having to spend a penny on wallpaper!
This is one look for those who don’t fancy colour – elegant, sophisticated and oh-so-stylish.
Use organic shapes, mirrors and feature lighting as a focal point whilst reflecting back the soft palette of greens and oatmeals.
Like neutral but want a little more personality? Combining greens and pinks is such a pretty trend and perfect as we start going into the dark and gloomy winter months.
Working well together and creating a calming atmosphere, the accessories you invest in for this trend also work so nicely for other colour combinations too!
It’s also the perfect excuse to bring the outside in with lovely foliage and pot plants – it might be miserable outside, but you can create an exotic haven inside.
Gold, Brass, Copper, Silver – the metallic options are endless! Whether it’s accessories, light fittings, mirrors or furniture, reflective materials make your space look bigger as well as much more indulgent. Brilliant for smaller rooms and a great way to bring through your personality.
A regal jewel tone, adding purple to your interior is both dramatic and comforting. Teamed with greys and forest greens you can build a stylish room that is as inviting as it is eye-catching.
Be brave with a purple-grey sofa, or enhance your space with cushions, curtains and rugs in shades of mauve and lilac.
8. RETRO GRAPHICS
Retro looks are still popular – and will always come back around! Vintage posters and monochrome colours create a striking look, whilst geometric shapes and clean lines are inspired by the Bauhaus movement. Bold, beautiful and modern, whatever the year.
One of Crown Paint’s trends for autumn/winter is ‘pigment’, inspired by the great old master’s studio where colour is reduced to particles and pigments – and of course pigment was the basis of paints decades ago.
Whilst you may not be able to paint your masterpiece on your Simple Life walls, displaying art pieces is a brilliant way of engaging with this sophisticated trend, and add a new dimension to your home. Combining soft prints with bold frames makes a real statement and helps you experiment with colours as the seasons go by without having to redecorate.
It’s official – black is back and gracing the kitchen. Luckily for all of you, our Simple Life kitchens already feature dark worktops meaning all you need to do to be bang on trend is maintain the theme through the accessories and countertop appliances.
