North East Wreath-Making Workshop: A Festive Evening in Sunderland

Residents from our North East communities came together for a wonderfully festive evening as we hosted a Christmas Wreath-Making Workshop in Sunderland and what a fantastic night it was!

North East Wreath-Making Workshop: A Festive Evening in Sunderland

The event was held at Port of Call Bar in Sunderland, where the cosy upstairs space created the perfect setting for a relaxed and festive evening. On Tuesday 2nd December from 6–9pm, residents came together to enjoy crafting, conversation, and seasonal cheer.

Tables were filled with fresh greenery, ribbons, pine cones, berries, and other decorative touches, giving everyone the chance to create a unique wreath to take home. The creativity on display was fantastic, with each wreath showcasing the maker’s personal style.

To make the evening even more enjoyable, residents were treated to a delicious selection of festive refreshments. The warm atmosphere, friendly chatter, and festive treats made the workshop a true highlight of the season. Many residents said how much they enjoyed trying something new and connecting with neighbours from across the region. And of course, the finished wreaths looked absolutely stunning!

A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful workshop host, Debbie from The Northern Flower Garden, whose guidance and enthusiasm helped make the evening such a success.

Debbie commented on the night saying:

“We recently hosted a wonderful Christmas wreath workshop for Simple Life at the Port of Call in Sunderland city centre. The atmosphere was so warm festive, and the team there couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful.

As you can see from the photos, the residents created stunning wreaths for their front doors using a mix of seasonal foliage and a choice of decorations — from classic Christmas colours to frosty whites and rustic countryside touches.

Everyone headed home with a beautiful handmade wreath and a big smile… and so did we! 🎄💚”
