Harrop Fold World of Work Day

Following Simple Life’s ongoing commitment to support local schools in the areas in which it builds, we are now working with Salford Foundation to help provide new opportunities for young people in the Salford area.

On Thursday 7th March, Hayley Fielden, Regional Development Director, and Luke Lightfoot, Property Asset Manager, attended Harrop Fold High School, just up the road from Simple Life’s Our Lady’s site in Little Hulton, Salford. The morning was spent presenting to groups of students as part of their ‘World of Work’ day. This scheme allows students to find out more from local companies about their industry and career opportunities. The team at Simple Life were joined by other large local companies including Incarnate Clothing, Morrisons Supermarket, Network Space Limited and AO.

Hayley commented ‘Having worked for Salford Council for several years prior to joining Simple Life, this city is one close to my heart. It was a great day and it is an absolute pleasure to be part of a scheme which helps students to find out more about our industry and about work in the real world, at such an exciting and opportune time of their lives.’

Luke said ‘The students seemed to be really interested and keen to take all the information in. Hopefully, with Hayley’s planning and development experience and my property asset management experience we could give a good overview of some of the different careers both pre and post construction. We really enjoyed our time interacting with the students and being able to support the wider communities surrounding our housing developments. As a company we are look forward taking part in more initiatives with Salford Foundation over the course of this year’.

Jason King, BEP and Inspired to Aspire mentoring programme coordinator at Salford, said “We are really pleased to have had Simple Life as one of the eight businesses who supported at our World of Work event. Harrop Fold School’s students and staff were excited to have the opportunity to learn from Luke and Hayley’s experiences and industry knowledge as they allowed the students to see a range of different job roles available within the construction industry. It is always exciting for us to bring local businesses together with their community-based schools and we are looking forward to Salford Foundation and Simple Life working together on future opportunities.
