What a wonderful evening, and what a genuine and humbling privilege to be a part of and share in this amazing project, this journey, this vision. There are people in this world who see the vision, have the passion, the belief and the dogged determination to achieve the end goal – and all to help others take a step to their best life. Sid Williams you are that inspiration, and alongside Tess, friends, family, team, community and supporters Embassy the Charity now truly is Embassy the Village! Wow! 40 homes, a community hub and staff accommodation, a workshop, a gym, outside planting spaces, and even bees! All set by the water and under the long standing strong arches! It really is an incredible achievement.

Being there to see the launch, hear the stories, chat with end users and supporters, and simply watch and listen, take it all in was heartwarming. This night really was what true and meaningful social impact is all about. It was and is Greater Manchester at its very best, people pulling together behind a vision to achieve and get things done.
As the proverb says “It takes a village to raise a child”, emphasizing that a child’s upbringing requires the collective effort of an entire community, not just the parents. Sid expanded this to say “It takes a city to raise a village” and this has been in evidence throughout this project. Community, collaboration, cooperation, teamwork and so much more, a determination and commitment to get it done, never give up, find solutions, ask, ask and ask again!
Together we can achieve so much, we can support so many, lift people up and in doing so lift ourselves. This shared belief that we can affect positive change, when we can work collaboratively, actively get involved, and stick at it through challenge and difficulty, is for me the highlight of this project.
Sid is definitely persuasive, his energy and passion are infectious, and the Embassy team are now at the beginning of another journey – a journey that will literally change lives. It feels good to be a part of a great story, an amazing project for people and community, and from which there is now a template, adaptable of course, for other cities and communities to do the same. How wonderful it would be to see this replicated across the country. Now that really would be a legacy of monumental note.
PS Simply awesome to have one of the 10 blocks named Niamh and will watch with joy as those living in the 4 homes therein attempt to explain and pronounce! 😊
